The Jakarta Women's Empowerment, Family Planning and Child Protection Agency (PPAPP) has intensified six new posts for complaints of violence against women and children this year. They are precisely in Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, South Jakarta, including in Seribu Islands.
This post has been able to handle proportionally completely
PPAPP Agency Head, Tuty Kusumawati said the six complaint posts have been operational since early January 2023. That means Jakarta already has 25 posts at this time where they are located in child-friendly integrated public spaces (RPTRAs).
Each post is supported by human resources or competent personnel, namely one counselor and one paralegal.
Commission C Visits Complaint Service Post at City Hall"The location mapping is based on areas that have indications of cases starting to increase, so we are adding complaint posts. There are counselors and paralegals hired in each post by the UPT P2TP2A and assigned to the complaint post. They are outside the management of RPTRA," she expressed, Friday (1/13).
She explained the post was complete because human resources had been placed with the capability related to legal and psychological cases. With educational background, the handling of cases of violence can be completed in the field right away. Moreover, the post could provide referrals in cases of violence.
"This post has been able to handle proportionally completely there too because there are counselors and paralegals. They also coordinate with the local police," she explained.
She continued that counselors and paralegals must teach RPTRA SAPA Posts in the surrounding sub-districts. Besides the local police, they are also coordinating with the sub-district PPAPP Agency Executing Unit, which is their target area.
"They don't wait for cases, but they are proactive because they have guidance, despite their home base already at the complaint post, territorially they have target areas. This post is like an extension of UP P2TP2A," she continued.
Hence, it was hoped that the community would be more open and courageous to report. She assessed cases of violence against women and children were like an iceberg phenomenon, there were still many cases of violence that occurred in society but were not reported.
"This raises awareness for the public to have the courage to speak up and report. The hope is that the many facilities that we have formed can be used by the community, especially victims who initially do not dare to speak up, instead they dare to report if there is or experience a case of violence," she uttered.
